Room to mature
We’ve made a lot of changes at The Torpenhow Cheese Company over the last year or so, including converting an old byre into a place for our delicious cheddar to mature.
We worked with the great Jacob Pawle Bespoke Woodwork & Stonemasonry to create such a space. The walls were repointed, rendered and painted and custom timber shelving constructed.
For the shelving, we used sycamore as it has a tight dense grain so bacteria can’t hide in it as much and it boasts mildly antibacterial properties – good for food, good for us!
